The winter sports resort of Turini-Camp d'argent is situated straddling the col de Turini and the baisse de Camp d'Argent. It is the closest resort to Nice, as it is only 50 kilometres from the French Riviera conurbation via the L'Escarène-Lucéram-Peïra-Cava road. Its family-friendly character as a resort "for beginners" has made it a success since its foundation in the 1960s. However, the creation of the Parc national du Mercantour in 1979 and the latent conflicts between the communes of Moulinet and La Bollène-Vésubie have held back the economic development of the site.
