The SkiRadar ratings

Seven criteria, rated from 1 to 5 stars in half-stars, for each of the 322 French ski resorts we cover. A rating is a rank among resorts, computed every night from the sourced data on each page — nobody types it in, and no overall score averages it away. Computed on 18 September 2026

How a rating is made

Each criterion combines a few factors read on the resort page: altitudes, measured snow days, kilometres of pistes, lift pass prices, drive times, bars and rated hotels counted on the map. Each factor is converted into a percentile among the resorts that publish it, the percentiles are weighted, and the result becomes a rating in half-stars. Five stars therefore means “among the best in France on this point”, not “perfect”.

A criterion whose key data is missing has no rating: the page shows “n/a” rather than an average of the other factors. “Atmosphere” and “Luxury” are indexes: they count what OpenStreetMap and the event listings publish within 2.5 km, not what you experience there — a zero means “nothing mapped”. The editors can correct these two ratings, and the page says so when they do.
